Taking the stage on the final night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Harris reiterated her message of unity, and vowed to put the country above any personal or party interests.
She said uplifting the middle class would be a main goal of her presidency, and that she would pass a tax cut for the sector while also improving housing and social care.
Harris repeatedly brought up gun control and reproductive rights- two issues that have been major campaigning points for the Vice President.
Speaking on her Republican opponent, Harris called Trump an “unserious man,” but warned that his reelection could have dire consequences for the country.
“In many ways, Donald Trump is an unserious man… But the consequences of putting Donald Trump back in the White House are extremely serious,” she said.
Harris accused Trump of largely favoring his “billionaire friends,” and that a Trump presidency would only entail higher costs for American households.
Harris was seen steadily catching up with Trump in a slew of recent polls, after President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race earlier this year and endorsed Harris.
Harris picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, and is set for a hotly contested race against Trump, with just over two months left to the polls.
